Re-branding Phase 5: DanSchawbel.com^2
November 12, 2007 at 11:36 am | In Futures, Personal Branding, Success Strategies, news | 4 CommentsFor phase 5 of my re-branding, I have developed a new version of DanSchawbel.com. As noted in a post a few months back, DanSchawbel.com was to represent the future of recruitment and force my readers to purchase their domain name (yourname.com) immediately. You are your Google results, so ensure your domain is purchased and ranks high.
I get email all the time asking me what the future of recruitment is and my answer remains consistent: the future of recruitment is personal branding. They ask how and why? I respond, “personal branding allows you to convey your message to the outside world, whatever that message may be.” By branding yourself online, you are giving enough information regarding your value, differentiation and marketability that recruiters can make a decision without having you run through a screening and seven interviews. Even more so, you can use your brand to attract others, whether it be the media, prospective customers or business owners. This can create opportunities, thus positioning you for success.
With a personal brand, you are displaying your passions, matched with your skillset. Therefore, you will be compensated based on what you enjoy and not a corporate job you acquire based on “just taking the job to pay the bills.”
What’s changed for DanSchawbel.com ^2?
The latest version has all the same imagery and design work as my blog, magazine, tv show and award websites. I noticed that the previous version had far too many pages and the flash was poor for optimizing the site. The new site comes with an updated representation of my brand, including a new video resume and press kit. I’ve also categorized the pages, so they all start with the letter p: personal, professional, personal branding, people & press. In my opinion, that’s what anyone should showcase. If your readers can’t connect to your professional life, they may be able to with your personal life or the people you’ve met.
Here are my accomplishments thus far:
- Phase 4: Personal Brand Awards (2008)
- Phase 3: Personal Branding Magazine
- Phase 2: Personal Branding TV
- Phase 1: New Logo
