Good interview and an interesting site you have here.

I'm working through the ProBlogger book right now and find it incredibly useful. Last night Darren Rowse gave a Webcast in which he covered some of the main topics from his book. Here was has his summary of key factors for successful blogging:

 1. Find a need that people have and work tirelessly to fill it over the long haul.
 2. Don’t be afraid to self-promote.
 3. Experiment to find out what your readers like and build on what works.
 4. Look for ways to extend your blog’s influence by incorporating elements that are usually associated with Web sites, such as forums, newsletters, job boards, video and audio.
 5. Remember that content is king. Over the long haul it’s all about content and lots of it, so invest heavily in that.

You can read about it <a href="http://billyproblogger.wordpress.com/2008/06/27/content-making-money/" rel="nofollow">here</a>.

Hi,

Nice interview. I am wondering what you think of our site. It could be a great way for Bloggers to make money and still remain editorially independant.

I found you through Mixx, in case your keeping track.

Cheers,

Joshua

Useful knowledge here. Thanks, Dan.

I have a question for you: As a former newspaper reporter myself, I am accustomed interviewing people but my experience is face-to-face. Presuming that you and Darren (or any other interview subject of yours) live in different parts of the world, is this an emailed interview?

Did you send him a query, for lack of a better word, that you were interested in interviewing him for your blog and then you sent him a list of questions? Or was it VOIP based or such?

Wonderful interview, thanks for sharing.
I'm learning with Darren's suggestions, it's really opening my mind and now I can't wait to have his book at home to "refine" my knowledges!
