There is no need for all of us to know about regression, for example. This is especially true when there are a lot of skill sets out there. If someone wants to be a number super cruncher then that's great, if not let's not force them into taking a course in something they don't want/need to know about. Basic maths is more than enough. High school forced enough broad knowledge into our brains, let's not force people to do it in college as well!
