Great interview and a very insightful analysis of leaders who are really on the cutting edge of their industries and those who have faded away. Definitely shows how important communication is. Also, good observation on the importance of good eye contact. For more perspective on public speaking you can check out a blog post I wrote a few days ago http://tastynectar.com/blog/2008/10/public-speaking-present-like-the-pros/

When it comes to communication, I feel that the 5 principles of Sticky ideas have been the most influential to me: SUCCESs

1. Simple
2. Unexpected
3. Credible
4. Concrete
5. Emotional
6. Story

When I was younger, I used to get really nervous when speaking in front of the class. My voice would start to shake and my heart would be pounding out of my chest. The only reason I got over it was because I put myself in situations where I constantly had to speak in front of people. The more and more you do it, the better you'll become - much like everything else in life.

I'm still working on being an even more effective communicator, so these tips on this post definitely help a lot.
