Brand Matchup: Barack Obama and Car Brands
November 6, 2008 at 12:23 pm | In Personal Branding, brand matchup | 4 CommentsTags: Barak Obama, Cars
We haven’t played any games on this blog in a very long time. It could be because I’ve been so wrapped up in interviewing people and writing thought provoking posts for you. I wanted to get back to some fun and games with “Brand Matchup.”
Here is how you play
You get to choose which product brand matches up to the personal brand listed, by taking the poll below the image. In light of Obama’s presidential victory, this week, Obama is the personal brand and your mission is to match his brand to one of the car brands to the right of his picture. Think about the values, attributes, history and experience you have with both Obama and the car brands before you decide. In the comment section of this post, explain why you choose the car brand you voted for.
- Round 1: Bill Gates and coffee brands – Starbucks wins
- Round 2: Mark Zuckerberg and toothpaste brands – Crest/Colgate/Aquafresh tie
- Round 3: Brad Pitt and shampoo brands – Hemp wins
- Round 4: Larry Page and soda brands tie

Take the poll now!

none! there are barely any american brands on the poll and obama roots for the home team. i’d like to say cadillac but he would be best matched up with Lincoln

Certainly see Obama as more than a Honda – given the current state of your poll. More like an Acura, which is why I voted Lexus.
Tom has a point about Obama’s brand being for the home team, but reality is that most American car brands are trying to be fixed or saved – and that is not quite how I see Obama – he has the attributes and skills that the majority of voting American’s have determined will fix and save them.
So Lexus – extremely well put together, well engineered, reliable, safe, leading edge, classy and probably going to end up costing you more but worth it for the value you receive.
Just my toonies worth from north of the border.

Obama is something for all, nissans are a range of cars that are driven across the US by a lot of hugely different people for a variety of uses, but you defo should have US marques in the mix!
