One of my key objectives in Plugged In is to help Ys figure out how organizations work — what they should expect — as well as how they can have an impact and help the organization change.

You mean get rid of their optimism and get things done attitude? If we're learning anything in these times of turmoil it's that "the way things are" is broken and we need to push the status quo, not assimilate into corporate society.

It's a good article, but I think you've got your audience mixed up. You don't need to tell Gen-Y kids how to prepare for interviews, they're just going to laugh at these tips. You need to tell corporations how to attract and more importantly keep bright young people. I guarantee that no matter how great you think your company is, the moment a Gen-Y feels under-appreciated they're going to jump ship and find somewhere else to work.

Let me put it this way, it's not going to be that guy who's been slaving away at the corporation for the last 40 years who magically turns things around and saves you from going bankrupt. It's going to be that new voice who's in touch with today and the new world that we have found ourselves in.

Here's a message from Gen-Y, "Lookout big corporations, you need us a whole lot more than we need you. Get with the program or get runover by thousands of innovative startups eager to replace you."
